Veselin Koshev
Born in Burgas on 03.02.1949He graduated from the German language high school in his hometown and German philology at the Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”.He was arrested in August 1979 and an investigation was initiated against him at “Razvigor”.Declared a zealous opponent of the socialist system, expelled from the Komsomol and disciplinary dismissed from work.He was banned from practicing his profession and from leaving the country.He is one of the first politicians in Bulgaria who founded a political party in 1989 together with a group of like-minded people.Founder of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and its first political secretary. Since May 1990, he has been the chairman of the LDP.One of the founders of the Political Opposition Bloc, co-founder of the Liberal Union.Participated in the creation of the Coalition for the Tarnovo Constitution “Svoboda”. Co-chairman of the Bulgarian Democratic Center until June 1993.As chairman of the LDP, he participated in a number of international forums of the Liberal International and the Movement of European Liberal, Democratic and Reformist Parties.Chairman of the Stefan Stambolov Foundation until 2008.Initiator and Founder of the Direct Democracy European Movement and its Chairman (since July 6, 2002, Honorary President of the “Bulgarian Construction and Commercial Consortium” and the “Euro-Asian Association for Business, Culture and Friendship.”, Chief Coordinator of the “Alliance – Bulgaria-France Alsace 2012”.First editor-in-chief of “Svoboda” (Freedom”) newspaper and director of the newspaper “Narodovlastie i Svoboda” (“Democracy and freedom”) until their closure due to lack of financial resources.He follows the ideas of the great Bulgarian statesman Stefan Stambolov, a zealous defender of the national idea and the principles of democracy.He defends the cause of a strong and European Bulgaria – with the motto “Bulgaria above all, but in harmony with the world and its neighbors”.
